Happy Easter

Hope everyone had a great Easter.  We enjoyed a nice weekend with family here.  Jack was super pumped about getting out for his first round of golf for the year with Dad, Grandpa and Uncle Loren.  It was so beautiful outside on Saturday we even grilled out and were able to enjoy our dinner out on the patio for the first time of the year - can't wait until it's warm enough to do that every night!

Easter Sunday we went to church and brunch and then came home and relaxed and snuck outside for a soggy easter egg hunt in between rain showers.  The kids didn't care though, rain boots and splashing and squishing around outside just makes it that much more fun for a kid I guess.

fresh spring air

We are pumped to be spending so much time outside lately.  Last week we hit up four different parks and made our first trip of the year to Rudy's drive-in for dinner.  It's a little cooler again this week, but the sun and lack of snow aren't slowing us down so far.  It just feels great to be getting so much fresh air. The kids have been asleep within seconds of their heads hitting the pillow and soon Stella's aversion to putting pants on under her dresses when we leave the house won't be an issue.  I think it's been her way of trying to rebel against the cold weather......she just doesn't understand that not wearing pants doesn't make it warm up outside, it just makes things a little chilly!

at least I got her to settle for wearing some capri's today

and just for the record, it was warm enough for shorts this day!

Spring is Here!

I must apologize for the lame display on the blog this winter, but spring looks as though it is finally here and energy is renewed!  Plus I'm always feeling more inspired to take pictures when we get outside into new environments.  There's only so many pictures I can take of the kids coloring or playing with their toys inside.  So we're back for spring with a lot of new material to share with you.........stay tuned!

FYI, the snow pile in the background is long gone now with the awesome temps we have been having this week :)

oh, and I was a little tired and low on energy this winter because of this too :)  But thankfully I have been feeling great lately!

Sorry for the lull in blog posts lately, truth be told, I haven't been taking any pictures lately.  There hasn't been a whole lot of excitement going on here lately with the frigid winter we've been having.  Winter routines are getting old and my energy is low, there's been too much time spent indoors and lacking in sunshine.  Spring we are so ready for you!

Happy Valentine's

We opted for a family night in this Valentine's day, complete with a heart shaped pizza, mustache straws and a picnic blanket on the living room floor.

The best gift of all....the homemade cards from the kids (and the massage gift certificate wasn't too bad either, thanks honey!)

The Polar Vortex

You know it's been cold when the first thing your child thinks to build with play dough is a snowman, ha!  Jack has been enjoying talking about, or rather just using the term, polar vortex. Likewise he also thinks he's pretty cool telling people that it was colder here than the North Pole and the South Pole.

There have been four days of school cancelled this month due to the subzero temps and way too many days where it's been too cold to go outside to play.   We have been doing our best to keep ourselves entertained with art projects,  play dough, fort building, and riding our bikes in circles in the basement.

Little Picassos

And in case you were wondering, Stella has decided that she does not want to wear pants while we are at home.  Makes perfect sense with the weather we have been having that our three year old would decide this is a good time to rebel against pants.

Stay warm everyone!
