Enjoy the Moment

Stella is know 20 months old, and I feel like 2 is just around the corner, which means 4 is just around the corner for Mr. Jack......wow that went fast! Ironically enough, I sometimes catch myself worrying about how quickly they are growing up and that I am taking as many opportunities to enjoy this time as I can, that I'm probably missing out on the present moment with them. Although there are sicknesses, sleep interruptions, and the exhaustion from waiting on two little people to deal with, I wouldn't trade it for a thing, I know I will miss it all someday. I recently read an article in one of my parenting magazines about savoring the moments with your children and how difficult it can be with our busy, hectic lives. There were a few words that really resonated with me, that I have been trying to keep in the back of my mind during the more challenging days of parenting a 1 & 3 year old. "Picture your children's messy bedrooms clean and empty. Picture the backseat of your car vacuumed and without a car seat or crumbs. Playroom shelves neatly stacked with dusty toys. Laundry under control." So as I look at the mound of unfolded laundry and toys scattered about the house, I will now try to find some comfort in this, knowing it is a sign of a busy happy young family.

Family Fun Night

We visited a new family entertainment center in town that has two very cool bounce houses that Jack thoroughly enjoyed, as well as bowling where Stella got in on the action too. Jack of course loved the race car game and was very enthusiastic about it as you can tell by the picture! It was a fun little family activity followed by a yummy dinner out together and then home to put two tired little kiddos to bed :)

Getting into EVERYTHING

Jack: "Look Mom, Stella's got your booby sacks on." After Stella had gotten into my underwear drawer.

Christmas 2011

Well, in case you hadn't noticed, I took a little hiatus from blogging, but I'm back and getting caught up with the rest of our Christmas pictures! We had a wonderful relaxing Christmas at home this year. It was our first year spending it at home and it was fun to start some new family traditions of our own, mixed in with some traditions from our childhood. Christmas Eve we went to church, had a delicious dinner of king crab legs, took a little walk to look at Christmas lights (and burn off the dinner) followed by family presents with the Churness clan. After setting out cookies for Santa and some carrots for the reindeer, we settled in to bed to get rested up for Christmas. Christmas morning was extra magical as Jack awoke us to let us know Santa had made it to our house overnight and brought him a Chuggington train table! We had a nice relaxing morning sipping coffee in our pajamas and watching the kids enjoy their new toys. A family walk through the rotoary lights display capped off our Christmas! We are so thankful to have such a great family and so many blessings. Hope you are having a great 2012 thus far and I'll blog again soon!
